The 1977 Seiko “Helmet” Ref. 6139-7100 is one of Seiko’s most distinctive chronographs of the era, instantly recognisable for its bold asymmetrical case that earned it the “helmet” nickname among collectors. This example is the sought-after white-dial variant, further elevated by its association with the fan given nickname “The Stormtrooper” a name that has become closely tied to its rarity and striking presence on the wrist.
The dial layout is clean, functional, and unmistakably 1970s. The crisp white background contrasts beautifully with the black numerals. Applied markers and matching hands complete the design, while the day-date display at 3 o’clock adds practical everyday usability. The overall aesthetic is sporty yet refined, making this version stand out even within the already iconic 6139 lineup.
Inside, the watch is powered by Seiko’s automatic Calibre 6139, one of the world’s first fully integrated automatic chronograph movements. Known for its durability and reliability, it remains a favourite among enthusiasts. Combined with the helmet case and the rare “Stormtrooper” white dial, this reference represents a charismatic and collectible piece of Seiko’s chronograph heritage.
